Styling FAQs

Q: What is styling?

A: All shoots come with optional free styling. Styling is when I will put together outfits for you and your spouse, children, fiance, etc to wear based on your personal tastes and the theme of the shoot.

Q: How does styling work?

A: Upon making an appointment I will ask you to email me a picture of you and whoever will be in the shoot with you (family, finance, etc) that shows your style and personality. You can even choose to send me a link to your Facebook page or personal blog if you prefer! Then I will send you back some ideas for a theme for the shoot and some outfits to wear. I usually include pictures as well to help you visualize what I'm thinking.

Q: Can you come to my home or go shopping with me to pick out something to wear?

A: Typically no. I would LOVE to do this for each person/couple/family I work with, but unfortunately I do not have enough time. That being said - if you are looking for a unique theme such as "Vintage 1940s Circus" (circa Water for Elephants), then it may be best for us to go together to a store a few days beforehand. Or if you are truly at a loss as to what to pick out, I can see what my schedule permits and we can try to work something out.

Q: I see that "Hair & Makeup" is credited to you in a few shoots, do you provide these services as well?

A: Again, typically no. However, depending on my schedule I can do simple makeup application and hair styles. This usually takes an additional hour, but will not cost anything more.

Q: I don't want to use the styling option, but is there anything I should stay away from when picking out what to wear?

A: Yes - loud prints (ie, big bold flowers, large logos on tshirts); horizontal stripes; shorts or skirts that are above mid-thigh; dirty tennis shoes (or any shoes for that matter!); etc. When in doubt - you can always email me :)

Q: Do you provide the clothes and/or props?

A: I do not provide the clothes, but I will provide all the props. Depending on the shoot, I may ask if you have access to a prop that I do not own, but that's about it!
